🏆 Kennedy Math Team Wins First Place at MathCounts State Competition

The Kennedy Middle School Math Team achieved an outstanding result at the 2026 MathCounts State Competition on March 7, earning 1st Place in the Team Competition among students from top middle schools of the state of Illinois. The four team members of Kennedy are William Wu, Jacob Chua, Stanley Yang, and Ruibin Wang. Also, Peter Chang, Ramya Raghupathi, Chloe Xia, Diya Mittal, and Marcus Sun participated as well.

Kennedy students also earned top individual rankings. William Wu placed 1st overall, followed by Jacob Chua (3rd), both of whom will represent the state of Illinois in the national competition in May. William Wu also won the championship in the countdown round, to achieve the rare triple top honor.

Welcome to the 2025–2026 Kennedy Math Team!

We are proud to announce that the Kennedy Math Team earned First Place at the MATHCOUNTS DuKane Chapter Competition held on February 21.

In an outstanding individual performance among competitors from 13 middle schools, William Wu achieved an exceptional 1st Place overall finish. Several other Kennedy team members also delivered remarkable results:

• Ruibin Wang – 8th Place
• Diya Mittal – 10th Place
• Peter Chang – 11th Place
• Chloe Xie – 15th Place
• Ramya Raghupathi – 19th Place

We are thrilled to share that all of these students have qualified for the MATHCOUNTS State Competition, which will take place on March 7.

Congratulations to our talented students for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievement. We wish them continued success at the state level!

Coaching Team

Fall 2025 Schedule

Our practices and exams will be held in the Learning Commons (LC) on Wednesday mornings from 7:00–7:50 AM on the following dates:

·        October: 15, 22, 29

·        November: 5, 12, 19

·        December: 10, 17

That’s a total of 8 sessions this semester. These meetings are open to all students who enjoy math.

We will hold two qualifying exams to select the top 20 students to represent Kennedy on the official Math Team.

Update: The first exam was held on October 22, 2025, with 88 students participating. The second exam was held on December 10, 2025. The Math Team has now been formed, and team activities will take place every Thursday afternoon during the spring of 2026.
